Every Wednesday, our dedicated Big Picture Dune Care group gathers with Dune Care Coordinator and volunteer Jess Whittaker at the Dog Track in Port Kembla Beach's sand dunes to contribute to our local community. This term, our efforts have focused on planting over 100 native trees indigenous to our region, diligently weeding out excessive amounts of Turkey Rhubarb and lantana, and clearing away litter to preserve and enhance the natural ecosystems of our beaches.
We've been fortunate to acquire new skills such as crafting and dispersing seed bombs, as well as learning techniques like frilling. Moreover, we've deepened our understanding of identifying endemic native species and distinguishing them from invasive weeds. Awesome job, everyone!
