Uniform
At FISC we do not require a ‘traditional’ school uniform. We welcome individual style, identity and personality, nonetheless, we do apply a Campus Dress Code to guide a reasonable standard of dress for a secondary education setting. This supports a safe, comfortable and respectful college culture and enhances positive public perceptions of our organisation.
Our dress code
- Students are to dress in a manner appropriate to their scheduled subjects and activities – particularly where there are subject specific WHS requirements (Teachers will outline these).
- Suitable footwear must be worn, in line with the DoE WHS Policy and appropriate to the area of the campus you will be working in – workshops; kitchens; science labs etc.
- All clothing must be school appropriate – the following apply to all gender identities:
- Garments and accessories must not show or represent potentially offensive, unpleasant, or inappropriate images, words, symbols, slogans or suggestions.
- Clothing must provide appropriate coverage : For shorts/skirts, about mid-thigh length is appropriate for school – at least completely covering the buttocks area; tops should reach the waistline of pants; Looser over-garments should cover clothing such as tights. For sports/beach activities swimwear/shorts should cover school-appropriately (cover the full buttocks).
- Specific clothing items that DO NOT meet Dress Code include : shorts or skirts above the mid-thigh; pants that have holes above mid-thigh; crop, low-cut or strapless tops; tops with plunging neck-lines and/or arm-holes; external and/or external look undergarments; pyjamas.
- All students leaving or returning from activities such as swimming or sports should change into Dress Code appropriate clothing at the venue and then return to the College. Where students are unable to change at the venue, students must change on arriving on campus immediately, including Break times.

PB@FISC & Wellbeing Interventions supporting the Campus Dress Code
Staff will address students wearing clothing inappropriate to the Dress Code or scheduled activity. Staff may refer students to the Head Teacher as per PB@FISC student management guidelines.
Where the nature of the issue is potentially sensitive (such as inappropriate or revealing attire), class teachers may refer to the Girls Advisor or a Wellbeing Team member who will discuss with the student.
Students wearing inappropriate clothing - procedures:
- Contact home and arrange suitable clothing to be delivered – interim loan garment will be worn
- Wear a College loan or borrowed garment for the day (when clothing cannot be dropped off).
- Students may need to be collected by a parent / return home if the issue cannot be rectified.
Note: Repeated breaches of the Dress Code are subject to PB@FISC Discipline Procedures.
