Human Society and Its Environment is a mandatory and vital part of all NSW student's Stage 5 education. At FISC we have developed a tailored program to engage students and enhance their learning in this area. HSIE is all about real world experience and relevance to ensure students are engaged in authentic learning.
The focus of History is on Australia's involvement in World Wars 1 and 2. The emphasis is on developing an understanding of the importance of this time period on our national identity and an empathetic understanding of different peoples and time periods.
The focus of Geography is on considering the physical environment of Australia with an emphasis on coastal ecosystems and how these can be managed into the future. This geographical knowledge and appreciation is then linked to a broader consideration of human wellbeing on a personal, national and global level.
