English Studies - Non-ATAR Courses
FISC offers the English Studies Year 11 (NESA Course No. 30105) and Year 12 (NESA Course No. 15125) to our non-ATAR students
In the English Studies course, students explore the ideas, values, language forms, features and structures of texts in a range of personal, social, cultural and workplace contexts. They respond to and compose texts to extend experience and understanding, access information and assess its reliability, and synthesise the knowledge gained from a range of sources for a variety of purposes.
In this course, students will consolidate their English literacy skills to enhance their personal, social, educational and vocational lives.
The course contributes to the required Preliminary pattern of study of 12 units and HSC pattern of study of at least 10 units.
The English Studies course delivered at FISC is designed to meet the needs of students seeking vocational or TAFE pathways upon the completion of the HSC. We do not offer classes in English Studies for those electing to attempt the external examination and ATAR. Results in the specific course offered at FISC, where no external HSC exam is attempted, are therefore not eligible for inclusion in the calculation of the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
