Computer Applications

Computer Applications

Students need an appreciation of the rapidly changing nature of the information technology landscape and of the need for the continuous development of skills to manage this change. They should also recognise the need for the development of critical thinking skills to enable them to make ethical decisions about current and emerging information and communication technologies. Each of the modules of this course explores relevant historical and social issues so that students can be both reflective and forward-looking in their learning.

Computing technology is a tool with the potential to enhance learning and engagement in a range of contexts. The choice of modules provided in this course allows students to explore their own areas of interest and to develop specific skills in, and knowledge and understanding of, computer-based technology in those areas. Students' capacities in both information handling and the creative processes are enhanced when a variety of software applications are available to them.

Project work is integrated into this course and there are opportunities for individual and group projects in each of the modules.
